Hi, my name is Russ Ruggles, and I have been meeting women online for well over a decade.
Along the way, I developed a methodology through which you can clearly present the interesting you, and

My good friend, Gabe, and I are as different as can be. He’s a steady 9-5 engineer, and I’m an erratic entrepreneur type. He loves to watch sports, I don’t care at all. He prefers to own a house, and I prefer to rent and be able to move around as I please.
So it’s no surprise that he and I use different online dating sites. If you’ve been reading my advice, you know that I mention Match.com a lot. I like Match.com because I can sort through matches based upon looks, make sure we have a few things in common, and cut to the chase. Continue reading ‘eHarmony Discount Promo and Coupon Codes’ »
If you’ve read all of my online dating tips, you know that I think match.com is the best online dating site out there. They have plenty of members, the communication features you need are there, and its an easy site on which to find a date. Match.com does cost more than the free options out there (Plenytoffish, for example) but I think this means you meet people who are more serious about meeting someone.
If you’ve read my online dating advice, you know that I think match.com is the best online dating site out there. They have tons of members, and good communication features that make it easy to get to the point and set up a date – where the real chemistry happens. Is Match.com free? Not really. Match.com costs more than free options such as Plentyoffish and Craigslist, but I’ve found the quality of the women I meet on match to be much higher, probably in part to this sort of “weed-out” effect.
If you’ve been reading my site for awhile, you know that I’m a big Match.com fan. But, Match.com isn’t necessarily the online dating site for everyone. While Match.com is more of a browse-and-see site, Perfectmatch.com actually has a personality test that helps to match you with people you are compatible with. It’s called the Duet® Compatibility Dating Profile, and it’s developed by Dr. Pepper Schwartz. So, here are some Perfectmatch.com Coupon Codes you can try out:
If you’ve been reading my site for awhile, you know that I’m a big Match.com fan. But, Match.com isn’t necessarily the online dating site for everyone. But, the makers of Match.com have also made Chemistry.com. While Match.com is more of a browse-and-see site, Chemistry.com actually has a personality test that helps to match you with people you are compatible with. So, here are some Chemistry.com Coupon Codes for you to give it a shot:
If you’re Jewish, and you’re looking for a Jewish mate, there’s probably no better place to look than JDate. Sure, there are plenty of Jewish people on Match.com, but JDate is especially for the Jewish community.
I’m not Jewish, but I actually signed up for JDate one time. Some of my friends insisted that you didn’t need to be Jewish to be on there. So, I gave it a shot. They had a field to indicate your Jewish denomination (Conservative, Orthodox, etc.). I think I picked “unaffiliated.” I actually got a bit of interest initially, but I generally just felt bad that most of the women on there were probably assuming that I was Jewish. I gave up pretty quickly and went back to Match.
Too bad though: the site had some really cool features – mainly their “Secret Admirer” feature. Basically, if you say you’re interested in someone, they’ll make sure that you show up in front of them in some way. If they say they like you too, you’ll both get an alert. It’s like when you were in grade school and you sent a note to a girl’s friend saying “I like her if she likes me.” Nobody is out on a limb. Nobody’s feelings are hurt.
JDate Coupon Codes
Unfortunately, JDate doesn’t currently offer as many promo codes as most online dating sites. (There are plenty of Match.com promo codes, including a Match.com free trial) I think this is because they have such a strong foothold on the Jewish dating community, that they know most people will pay full price. But, you can be sure that I’m keeping tabs on it. If ever there is a promo code to save on JDate, I’ll have it right here. Until then, you can get a JDate free trial promo code and try out some features.
UPDATE: February 16, 2010: I’ve put up a few more match.com promo codes in case a match.com free trial of 7 days isn’t what you’re looking for. For example, you can save 20% on your subscription instead.
As I’ve mentioned many times, match.com is my favorite dating website. They have a great combination of solid features, and a huge membership base. There are lots of other dating sites that fulfill particular nichés, but it’s hard to beat match.com.
I often get asked “Is Match.com free?”Match.com is free to sign up, fill out a profile, and wink (though, guys, you don’t want to wink); but to send messages to other members, and to read messages you receive, you have to be a paid member.
All over the Match.com site, you will see advertised a 3-day match.com free trial, with which you can communicate with other members. This is great, but 3 days is a little tight. Not much time to really make connections and secure dates.
After your trial is over, I do recommend going with the 6-month membership that comes with the guarantee. Basically, if you follow the requirements of this promo (have a profile photo active the whole time, keep your profile active the whole time, and contact at least 5 members a month), and don’t find someone special during that time, you get another 6-months free. I’ve had this guarantee granted before; and – I know – what good is a service that didn’t work for you in the first place?
I actually enjoyed having that 6-months free; but the main benefit is that fulfilling the requirements of the guarantee acts as sort of a dating coach. You have to contact at least 5 members a month – so maybe you send out one-line hooks to a few matches whom you were on the fence about and might not have contacted otherwise. I dated a girl for about 3 months who fell into this category – it was a good experience I probably wouldn’t have had otherwise.
The toughest part of fulfilling the requirements of your guarantee is keeping your profile active. If you’re contacting at least five members a month, you’re probably going on some dates; and chances are you will meet someone to the point where you feel like you should deactivate your profile. So, keep the guarantee requirements in mind before you do this. Maybe you keep your profile active and send a few obligatory e-mails because you have to? It depends on what you’re comfortable with.
So, sign up for your 7-day match.com free trial by clicking here for the coupon.
Full disclosure: I do get a small referral fee if you start paying for match.com. I provide all of this advice for free despite lots of time invested and hosting fees etc., so I feel that’s fair. But, I absolutely wouldn’t recommend any service I didn’t think was great.
